Microsoft and OpenAI are jointly developing the Stargate project, a $100 billion supercomputer due to be built by 2028. The project is Microsoft’s largest investment in OpenAI and will consume 5 gigawatts of nuclear fusion energy. According to plans, the cost of the project will be approximately 100 times higher than that of modern data centers.
The company also entered into an agreement with tech startup Helion, in which founder Sam Altman has a significant stake. Helion will build the world’s first working fusion reactor to provide a ton of power to Microsoft by 2028.
The people behind these projects have outstanding qualities: they are leading experts in the fields of artificial intelligence, energy and emerging technologies. Their ambitious approach and innovative ideas will help create unique technologies that will change the future of our world.
